How I understand digital transformation | 数字化转型

This is a brief reflection of my thoughts of what digital transformation is and what it means to me.

What is digital transformation?

The digital transformation I have abstracted includes three stages: automation, digitization, and intelligence. Automation is the ability to automate, mechanize, and produce on a large scale the traditional production process, which is the basis for introducing intelligent decision-making. Digitization, based on automation, is further divided into business digitization and management digitization, both of which support each other. Business digitization, based on mechanization, organizes the procurement, production, storage, logistics, sales, and other business links in a digital manner, establishes a complete database, formulates standard workflows, and has a more precise understanding of the market, consumers, and the company itself. Management digitization, while digitizing the business, cultivates the concept of data governance within the company, improves digital work capabilities, and adjusts workflows and structures when necessary. Intelligence aims to assist decision-making systems based on new tools such as artificial intelligence after obtaining multi-dimensional, large-volume data, such as warehouse replenishment forecasts, channel sales forecasts, and precise consumer demand forecasts.

What does digital transformation mean to me?

I hope to further promote and deepen digitization, develop the needs and scenarios of intelligence in traditional industries, and hope to help more traditional industry companies enjoy the benefits of technology in the new era and further improve production efficiency. At present, I do not fully understand the development of digital intelligence in each industry. I can only analyze, summarize, and infer based on the industries of the companies I work for. According to my current understanding and research, the vast majority of industries are still exploring digitization. This is a deeper and wider river than expected. Some companies stop halfway and no longer go deeper. They seem to have completed digitization, but they are still using manual methods to analyze and summarize data, and there is no dedicated data management system.

数字化转型是什么?

我所抽象的数智化转型包括三个阶段,即机械化、数字化、智能化。机械化是能够将传统的生产流程进行自动化、机械化地、规模化地生产,是引入智慧决策的基础。数字化在机械化之上又进一步分为业务的数字化和管理的数字化,二者互为支持。业务的数字化是在机械化的基础上,对采购、生产、储存、物流、销售等各业务环节进行数字化的整理,建立完善的数据库,制定标准的工作流程,对市场、消费者和企业自身又更精准的认知;管理的数字化是在业务数字化的同时,公司内部培养数据治理理念、提高数字工作能力,在必要时进行工作流程和架构的调整。智能化旨在有了多维度、大体量的数据之后进行的基于人工智能等新型工具的智慧辅助决策系统,例如仓库的补货预测、渠道的销售预测、消费者精准需求的预测等。

数字化转型对我意味着什么?

我的工作是希望能够在进一步推广、深化数字化的基础上,开发智能化在传统行业中的需求和场景,希望能够帮助更多的传统行业公司在新时代享受技术的红利,进一步提高生产效率。目前我并不完全了解每个行业在数智化的发展情况,仅能根据我所供职的一些企业行业进行分析归纳和推断,根据我目前的了解研究,绝大多数行业仍然在数字化的阶段探索徘徊,这是一个比预想中要更深、更宽的河,有公司行至一半便不再深入,看似完成了数字化,但是仍然在使用人工进行数据的分析汇总,也并未有专门的数据管理体系。
